Robospaien V2Welcome to buyrobosapienv2.com.  Robosapien V2 is a hot commodity for the holiday season and if you’ve seen what it can do, you’ll know why.

Wowwee has created in the Robosapien V2 the next generation of Robosapien technology.  The Robosapien Version 2 is a more advanced member of the robotic family that comes with more interactive sensors, advanced program functions, advanced dynamic motion, ability to speak and it’s own personality.  This robot can dance, bowl and have conversations among other things. Buy Robosapien V2 …we give it an enthusiastic two thumbs up! You can read more about it below.

Product Description

Standing nearly 2 ft. tall, Robosapien V2 has outgrown his popular but primitive predecessor by almost twice the size.  With infrared sensors, his blue LED eyes are able to recognize colors, blink and track movements. Robosapien V2 sensors also allow him to interact quite remarkably in his environment with astonishing autonomy.

This “smarter” version of the prior generation can speak in English and interact with humans and other “Signature Series” robots. The V2 has a larger more capable body that is able to walk with striking fluidity.  He can also sit or lie down and stand up again without any help.  To command all his functions, just point the wireless IR controller towards his head.

Robosapien V2 does require 6 “D” batteries and 7 “AAA” batteries which are not included.

Movement

The Robosapien V2 is programmed to walk four different ways.  With its IR touch sensors and vision he is able to avoid obstacles, but if you put him into bulldozer mode, he will manuever backwards and forwards and try to bulldoze his way through just about anything.

You can control him manually with the remote control or have him roam the environment in free roam mode.  Using the remote’s unique targeting feature, you can point the beam on the floor and Robosapien V2 will walk toward it.

Robosapien V2 was designed to function just like humans. He is able to turn his head and hips and move them side to side and back and forward. He can also move with his arms, grab with his hands as well as pick up and throw small objects.  He is also preprogrammed with cool dance moves.

Sensors

With a potent vision system, Robosapien V2 can track objects in his field of vision by moving his torso and head.  Depending on the distance from his sensors he will react differently.  He has an onboard color camera that can identify skin tones and primary colors.  This makes it easy for him to recognize his bowling ball and pins, and his favorite thing to do is bowl.

Because he can detect skin tones, he is able to determine if people are waving to him, or if it is time to shake their hand. He also comes with three other sensors. A hearing sensor that lets him know if people are around, tilt sensors to prevent damage in case he should fall, and grip sensors that lets him know if he’s succeeded in picking up an object.

Programming

You can preprogram Robosapien V2 to move in several different ways.  By using controller commands just enter different moves into the program and he will remember them in order.  Different movements like walking steps, arm and torso movements, animations and demos, as well as subroutines can all be programmed into him.  When he is in guard mode, a sharp noise or movement in front of him will trigger the program to execute and he will faithfully remember the program even if you turn him off.

For the most part Robosapien V2 reviews have been positive.  I found 39 customer reviews over at Amazon and 16 people gave the Robosapien V2 5 stars, 11 people gave it 4 stars, but there was also a few 1 star ratings as well.  Generally speaking though most people were satisfied with this WowWee toy robot.

Here are some of the things people are saying about the Robosapien V2 robot.

This eleven year old kid said it is a great toy and is “PURE FUN!” He mentioned that he doesn’t get bored with it because  “there is SO MUCH STUFF HE CAN DO!”

A couple bought the V2 for their 9 1/2 year old son and were skeptical at first. But after playing around with it, declared that “It was absolutely cool.”

A techno geek type of person said that he had no major problems with it and “found it 100% reliable”.  But the best thing he liked about the robot was it’s “ability to be “hacked” or modified”.  Hmmm, Robosapien V2 hack?  Can you say upgraded?  Apparently there is a whole community online that is very supportive if you plan to do so.

All is not rosy for the Robosapien V2 though.  A few people complained that it didn’t walk very well on carpet or hardwood floors.  Some complained that it took a truck full of Robosapien V2 batteries to operate and heated up the toy.  Some just felt it was too complicated.

I think this quote by a reviewer may help with your expectations of the Robosapien V2:

“This ‘bot is intended not just to be a toy, but as a stepping stone toward the long-awaited dream of a personal robot. To truly appreciate such a device, one must not expect it to be capable of doing everything a human can do. Instead, see it as the next step in personal robot evolution.”
